Shhhh—Do You See That?

Bad news SHOUTS.

Good news grows quietly.

Remember this when all of the news feels overwhelmingly bad.

It’s not that it’s all bad, it’s that your good is humbly growing while your bad is temper tantruming.

Don’t let the SHOUTING deter you from seeing the good in your life.

The Magic Of Perspective

Yesterday, my hometown got 18 inches of snow.

All at once.

And when I looked out the window—all I saw was work.

But, when I looked out the window later that day, I saw a boy across the street jumping and playing in it.

And I didn’t see work anymore.

I saw magic.

A “Boring” Life

A “boring” life isn’t a byproduct of doing the same tasks every day.

A “boring” life is a byproduct of thinking the same thoughts every day.

Boring is a state of mind—not a state of tasks.

Sure, adventurous lifestyles might beget an “exciting” life—but, that’s only because it forces new, “exciting” thoughts. It’s important to remember that this is not the only path to an “exciting” life.

If we can learn how to excite our state of mind, we can learn how to excite our lives—period.

And the prerequisite for this is not financial freedom, plane tickets across the globe, and #vanlife.

The path to an exciting mind (and life) is only limited by our curiosities and resourcefulness. Are we willing to invest the time required to identify our curiosities? How about explore those curiosities? How about write about/ talk about/ create stuff about those curiosities?

Don’t make an “exciting” life into something more than it is.

The “exciting” life is available to each of us, right where we are—now.

When Things Go Bad

I don’t know who needs to hear this but, this is one of the most powerful questions I’ve ever come across:

What good can come from this?

There’s always something.

Facilitating The Successful And The Fools

Let’s not forget: fools can say and do things that provide value—and highly successful people can say and do things that are dumb .

Don’t let your overall perception of a person define how you think about everything they ever say and do.

Accept and challenge each statement and action in its own right—free of your predispositions and past judgements.

Be the person who can admit when they are acting out of character—both in good ways and in bad.

It’s incredibly easy to do the opposite. But, being the person who can admit when a person is acting out of character, may very well be the facilitation they need.

Like You Mean It

Back up. Chin up. Eyes straight ahead.

When you speak? Speak loud and clear.

Presentation is important. Delivery is important.

When you do these things, the exact same words said in the exact same context hit completely differently.

And your words, the ones you so carefully chose, will stand to reach their full potential.

What a shame to see them end up otherwise.

Don’t Offend The Universe

It took us 13.8 billion years to get to today.

And you’re gonna waste it on…?

Complaining? Overthinking? Hating?

The universe is offended.

Let’s use this small slice of eternity in the most grateful, thoughtful, loving way(s) we can.

No waste.
