Day 1,000

Today marks 1,000 days of daily writing. (!)

And what an incredible journey it has been.

The most important lesson I have learned along the way is how beneficial daily writing is for my mental health.

Each day I would sit to write, I gave myself permission (and the space) to process feelings, clarify thoughts, and reflect on experiences.

Pre-daily-writing I didn’t have this.

And now, I can’t imagine my mental state without it.

If you don’t already have a space in your life for processing feelings, clarifying thoughts, and reflecting on experiences, I can tell you right now, your mental state is being affected.

The benefits I have received have changed my life and I’m convinced that if you start a practice of your own—it’ll change your life as well.

This doesn’t have to be as committed as my process is (although, it certainly could be). It can be simple, private, pen-and-paper, and just a few minutes each day or week.

Don’t underestimate the power of daily writing.

It could very well be the answer you’ve been looking/ hoping/ waiting/ searching/ praying for.

P.s. I shared on twitter 25 Lessons Learned from 1,000 Days of Daily Writing. Enjoy :)

Gone To Burning Man!

From Sunday (8/28/22) to Sunday (9/4/22), I’ll be off grid.

That means, you won’t get daily emails from me until I get back on the grid on Monday (9/5/22).

Rest assured, I’ll still be writing daily—it’ll just take on a more primitive form (that’s right folks… pen and paper).

And when I get back, I’ll share what words made it to paper during what I’m expecting to be a wild, curious, mysterious, serendipitous, and nothing-short-of-inspirational week.

Don’t know what Burning Man is? I can barely explain it. But, this video does a pretty solid job.

Thank you to each of you for your ongoing support. I look forward to reconnecting when I get back. ♥

P.s. If you’re feeling generous, you can send a little love via coffee here. This trip will definitely require copious amounts of caffeine. Cheers :)

Guest Appearance On: ‘Rewiring The Mind’

Justin Egliskis believes that our minds can become prisons if we abstain from mental work and he focuses on having conversations around health and resiliency.

In this podcast episode, Justin and I chat about what attention to detail says about you, the intrinsic benefits of exercise, the importance of building skills, why long-term vision is crucial and much more.

You can listen to the episode using the embedded player below or (if you don’t see it) you can find it on Spotify here. Thanks and enjoy!

No Words.

Today, there was a mass shooting at a grocery store that’s 5 minutes from my house.

10 were killed. 3 were injured. And for what reason? Skin color?!

These were people who were getting their groceries on a Saturday morning. A task I’ve engaged in innocently countless times. And to think there’s an evil out there who could attack such an innocent act completely ruins me.

There are no words.

I’m heartbroken. I’m infuriated. I’m scared.

I’m sharing this with you today to remind you to hug your loved ones a little tighter tonight. To live your life in a way that minimizes regret. And to spread more love in every way you can.

We damn well need it.

Sending all of my love to those affected by this tragedy. Tonight, I have my city in my heart. ❤️
